Blake Lines joined the James | Sobba team as an Associate in the Fall of 2022. Blake graduated from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude. While in law school, he spent his time working as a staff member for the UMKC Law Review and gained invaluable courtroom experience as a judicial intern for the Honorable Stephen R. Bough, the Honorable Brian T. Fenimore, and the Honorable Lajuana M. Counts at the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
Outside of law school, Blake has also gained practical real-world experience clerking for firms who tirelessly devote their time and efforts to serving their clients’ needs. In his work experience, Blake has assisted in preparing and defending claims against and on behalf of owners, general contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, sureties, and insurance companies. Blake has thoroughly researched and navigated through many types of issues relating to claims in the practice of construction law including delay claims, defective work claims, payment disputes, design error claims, bid contests, change orders, acceleration claims, extra work claims, insurance coverage disputes, mechanic’s liens, payment-bond claims, performance-bond claims, breach of warranty claims, and negligence claims.
