Matt Clune is a results-oriented lawyer focusing his practice on employment and business issues and construction disputes. His litigation skills include extensive first chair trial experience and successful arguments in numerous state and federal courts, including the Missouri and Kansas Supreme Courts. Matt also utilizes his litigation experience to help guide his clients through complex business transactions with an eye toward efficiency and risk management.
Matt’s construction experience includes representation of general contractors and engineering, electrical, and architectural firms in breach of contract, negligence, and breach of warranty claims, as well as mechanic’s lien prosecution and defense.
Matt has significant experience advising employers dealing with a wide array of employment issues. Matt represents employers dealing with administrative complaints filed with local, state, or federal agencies, including the EEOC or state Departments of Labor, as well as in litigation filed in state and federal courts. He also assists employers with investigation and termination policies and procedures. In addition, Matt has a wealth of experience enforcing and defending claims of violations of non-competition, non-solicitation, and confidentiality agreements, as well as intellectual property claims, including allegations of trade secret misappropriation. Matt regularly drafts restrictive covenant agreements for employers to govern these issues in the employment context.
Matt is also skilled in business law, and regularly represents clients in transactions and in litigation, as the need arises. He has significant experience drafting and negotiating construction contracts, commercial leases, and other contracts, and has represented buyers and sellers in business acquisition transactions. His business litigation experience includes business torts, breach of contract, and disputes between owners or partners.
